After collaborating first in 2019, NorthShore Care Supply re-engaged Niteco to upgrade their site from .NET 4.7 to .NET 6 to enhance performance and user experience.

Niteco executed a comprehensive .NET upgrade by scanning the site, resolving build errors, and conducting rigorous testing to ensure a seamless transition. 

Result
In alignment with NorthShore's roadmap, we successfully migrated their framework to .NET 6, resulting in improved performance metrics. Additional benefits are expected as we continue to enhance their GA4 data tracking system. 

Re-engaging with Niteco after our successful 2019 collaboration, NorthShore sought our support to upgrade to .NET 6 and enhance their platform’s performance and user experience.

The outdated .NET framework (.NET 4.7) posed significant challenges for this high-converting healthcare solutions business. Issues such as slow loading speeds, low performance, and poor user experience not only frustrated users, but hindered potential business growth. As a full-service partner for .NET upgrades, Niteco confidently accepted the challenge, aiming to deliver outstanding results.

To tackle NorthShore's challenges, Niteco embarked on a comprehensive .NET upgrade journey, simultaneously implementing additional front-end improvements to enhance efficiency and the user experience.

We began by thoroughly scanning the site and reviewing all packages, libraries, and integration points to ensure everything was correctly documented and ready for the upgrade. Getting the hang of the intricacies of NorthShore’s platform, we dedicated time to upgrading all custom code, addressing breaking changes, and fixing build errors. We also took the opportunity to improve the existing front-end by removing unused dependencies and optimizing bundling.

After upgrading the service environment, we carefully identified and migrated the necessary data from the old to new databases as a part of systematic approach. To enhance accuracy and guaranteed stability, we developed both automated and manual test scripts and conducted extensive regression testing, and thorough bug fixing.

At the end of the day, we executed a smooth rollout for each site, minimizing disruption to NorthShore's workflow and ensuring a seamless transition to the new .NET framework.

We successfully completed the upgrade in just 2.5 months, right on schedule and aligned with NorthShore's roadmap, delivering site-wide performance improvements across key metrics: Lighthouse scores and Core Web Vitals. 

The business's storefront - the homepage – experienced a 52% increase in Lighthouse Performance, along with substantial Core Web Vitals gains. Most notably, the Largest Contentful Paint dropped by 85% reaching just 1.5 seconds, while the Cumulative Layout Shift improved by 68%, down to 0.024. 

These positive changes extended to other critical pages. The Product Detail Page achieved a 40% improvement in mobile performance, while the Product Listing Page saw an 86% boost on desktops. Both pages benefited from reduced First Contentful Paint and a significant 41% reduction in Largest Contentful Paint.

As our collaboration with NorthShore evolves, we are enhancing their GA4 data tracking, which will empower the business’s data-driven decision-making and lead to even stronger outcomes.
