‘If at first you don’t succeed, try try again!’ This famous American phrase proved to be a mantra that paid off for one of Niteco’s long-serving employees, 32 year-old Hau Thuy Luong.
The IT professional from Hanoi applied not once but twice to work at Niteco before she was eventually hired. The first time, she recalls, one of her three interviews was with the Founder and CEO of Niteco, Pelle Niklasson. And it wasn’t successful. Hau explained, “Pelle has really high standards and I didn’t meet them.”
Attracted to the ethos of the company, Hau remained undeterred and sent in her second application a year later. This time, she passed all three interviews and took up a position as a Tester in the Service Plus team. She hasn’t looked back since. Hau said, “I’ve worked for Niteco for four and a half years now and I’ve been able to grow my career here. After a while working in the Service Plus team, I was trained in mobile technologies before becoming the team leader for one of Sweden’s biggest telemarketing companies, Dialing. I now manage a team of five people and together we serve the needs of our client. It’s a role I really enjoy. My colleagues are nice and so is my client. When I applied for a position at Niteco, I never thought I’d ever be a team leader!”
In addition to her career progression, Hau says Niteco has allowed her to pursue her other passion – helping others less fortunate. Through the company’s charity organization, NICEF, Hau has been able to improve the lives of children in the Highlands, children with heart conditions and victims of cancer. Together with her equally passionate colleagues, Hau has been able to assist more people than she ever thought possible. She said, “The charity work that Niteco allows me to do was one of the main reasons why I wanted to work for the company. Not all companies are willing to give to the community, but Niteco is one of the exceptions.”
