Highlights from Cloudflare Connect London 2025
At Niteco, we’re always keeping an eye on the latest tech innovations to ensure we deliver cutting-edge solutions to our clients. Recently, two of our Solution Architects, Scott Reed and Jacob Pretorius, attended Cloudflare Connect in London, where they explored the future of cloud technologies
Here’s the top six game-changing features they are excited about from the Cloudflare developer week, designed to help businesses to stay ahead of the curve. Let’s read on.
1. AI Auto-RAG
Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) is a technique that makes generative models even smarter by giving them access to specific information not available online. This allows LLM’s to bring their broad knowledge and apply it to very specific use cases with additional private data.
Implementing RAG isn’t straightforward as you need to first apply transformations to the data and then index it in a database that the AI can understand. It is a common task that many companies are currently undergoing as they aim to make AI more useful with their internal documentation or data.
With Cloudflare’s new Auto-RAG in open beta they have done all the heavy lifting. Clients can go from uploading data to a storage bucket and having a smarter private LLM in minutes.
2. Durable Objects now Free
A Durable Object is a special kind of Cloudflare Worker which uniquely combines compute with storage which lets developers build stateful serverless applications that are as flexible as Workers.
Durable Objects are now part of the free tier, so anyone can sign up and start creating distributed stateful scalable applications.
3. The Agent Puzzle
Agents are latest greatest thing in the world of AI, and now Cloudflare have made it easier to build and deploy your Agents with their Agents SDK.
Using the Agents SDK you can now create and connect to external services using MCP (Model Context Protocol), making it easy to bring AI to a whole new world of services.
4. Full-Stack Cloudflare Workers
It is now possible to build full-stack applications in host them entirely in Cloudflare Workers. Your client-side JavaScript, HTML, CSS, fonts, and images all from one place.
Like Pages, you only get charged when your Worker code runs, meaning you can host and serve static sites for free. When you want to do any rendering on the server or need to build an API, simply add a Worker to handle your backend.
Cloudflare Pages will continue to be supported, but, going forward, all of their investment, optimizations, and feature work will be dedicated to improving Workers.
5. Workers Observability
One problem with distributed or serverless computing is that it is often very difficult to debug and find problems.
With Workers Observability - a new section in the Cloudflare Dashboard it is much easier to query detailed log events across all Workers in your account to extract deeper insights and find bugs quicker.
6. Real Time AI Powered Threat Analysis and Bot Detection
Threat detecting in the Cloudflare platform is essentially a rules system with a crafted set of regular expression rules crafted by security experts to block malicious requests. However, it can take as little as 22 minutes from publication of a security vulnerability to a hacker using it, meaning that security experts have very little time to craft, test and deploy rules to the Cloudflare network.
Both the threat and bot detection have been upgraded to support a support low latency call to AI analysis that are trained with Cloudflare data from the 20% of global network traffic they handle. This large dataset for both threats and bots has allowed them to train the model so that scores can be presented during a live request and identify attacks in real time automatically.
This has been tested and has been capable of capturing new security exploits before the experts can manually create rules, seriously enhancing the capabilities of the WAF.
