When 22 year-old Nam was coming to the end of an intensive three-month internship program at Niteco last year, a number of Vietnam’s top software companies were offering him lucrative contracts. The software engineering graduate who was one of 20 young people selected to undergo the Niteco Young Talent (NYT) program, remembers turning each and every one of them down. And instead he chose to accept a full time contract as a front end developer at Niteco.
He explains, “I’d heard about the NYT program from a cousin of mine who was working here. It sounded attractive to me because I knew I’d learn a lot in an international environment and that’s why I applied. Throughout the internship, a few of us were given the opportunity to join a real project with a real customer. It was as a result of this experience that my mentor, Ngoc Tran saw my potential and made a recommendation to the Senior Leadership Team that I be given a full time contract and they agreed. Since then, I haven’t looked back. Twelve months on, I know I made the right decision to work at Niteco because every day I benefit from working with experienced, open minded colleagues who are ready to share their knowledge with me. Also, being a part of an international company means I’ve been able to improve my English, which is an advantage.
Now, the young talent has high hopes for his future. “I’m not sure where I see myself in the next five years” he says. “But I know that I want to stay at Niteco for some time.”
